    Natalie Portman
    Portman, a vegetarian and animal rights advocate since childhood, doesn't eat or wear animal products -- not even on photo shoots. For Spring 2008, she has her own line of vegan footwear with Té Casan. And she acts as Ambassador of Hope for the Foundation for International Community Assistance (FINCA) Village Banking Campaign to bring financial services to the world's lowest-income families.

    Activist Styler and rock star hubby Sting started The Rainforest Foundation in 1989 to fight global destruction and help preserve the rights of indigenous people. A United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) ambassador and advocate of organic foods, Styler won an Environmental Media Association (EMA) award in 2007. She and Sting also once protested a proposed liquid natural-gas facility off the coast of Malibu, Calif.

    As famous for her activism as she is for her acting, Hannah has aggressively supported causes ranging from preserving farms to battling sexual slavery. (She was arrested in 2006 in a tree-sitting protest to prevent loss of an urban garden.) She runs a weekly video blog on sustainable solutions with an online store selling only environmentally friendly goods. Oh, and her green home runs on solar power while her car runs on biodiesel ... naturally.

    Cate Blanchett
    Blanchett, who helped launch the Australian Conservation Foundation's Who On Earth Cares campaign to reduce greenhouse pollution and avoid dangerous climate change, filmed a special appeal for SolarAid that was screened at the Hay Festival of Literature and Arts in Wales. The fan of eco-friendly jeans by Edunhas also taken steps to reduce her carbon emissions by converting her Sydney home to a green one, timing her showers (and using a water-efficient shower head), and driving and flying less. (She has been seen riding eco taxis and buses.)

    Activist, actress and wife to folk singer Ben Harper, Dern is a spokesperson and advisory board member for Healthy Child Healthy World. She and actress Amy Brenneman launched the Blue Butterfly Campaign to reduce environmental toxins in the home.

    The "Heroes" star and campaign spokesperson for Save the Whales Again made headlines when she protested with a group of surfers to stop local fisherman from killing pilot whales in southwestern Japan. Her efforts garnered her the Wyler Prize at the 2008 Genesis Awards by the Humane Society of the United States (as well as an arrest warrant in Japan). She also supports the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), a global conservation organization.

    Longtime eco-activist, award-winning actress and mother of eco-conscious actress Gwyneth Paltrow (and earth-friendly son-in-law Chris Martin), Danner has advocated recycling and conservation for three decades. She also holds spots on the EMA's board of environmental activists and board of directors, drives an electric car and has solar panels in her home.
