Stella McCartney's fur ad
Filed under: Fashion, News, Stylish Living

Stella McCartney, arguably the world's most recognizable vegan designer, had a rather unpleasant surprise after lending a bra from her collection to a stylist -- the bra was worn by a model wearing a real mink coat in an ad for Hockley.
The ads have since been pulled (after Stella threatened legal action), and a source who works with the designer said, "If Stella knew [the bra] was going to be used by Hockley there is no way she would have lent it... [W]hen Stella saw the picture she was furious. She said, 'It goes against everything I stand for.'"
We can't imagine what kind of stylist would make such a major mistake, unless it was someone deliberately trying to mess with Stella. She didn't even have a chance to see proofs or anything -- the first she saw of her bra was in the actual campaign. We think somebody's in a lot of trouble. Good thing Stella's a vegan and has compassion for other living things.

I'm curious if boiling silkworms alive just to use them for silk in a bra goes against everything she stands for as well. Certainly wouldn't make this bra a "Vegan Design"
