Backpack to school

Backpacks. What's up with that?
We don't recall having to carry a backpack in elementary school, but we do remember having to walk uphill to school, both ways, in the snow. Seems like we would recall a backpack.
Times have changed, and much to the delight of chiropractors everywhere, kids are carrying twice their body weight to school and back, albeit on snow-free, relatively flat surfaces.
This is what they're using:
Backpacks might be practical, and possibly even necessary, but they are more than that. They are fashion. They are the daily accessory that goes with everything and nothing. It is a status to your hipness and/or the happiness of your child.
We know, it's just a damn backpack.
Nearly every company that carries kids clothing has at least one backpack, ranging from the classic print to the latest animated feature. Some are big, some are small, some have wheels and some not at all. Yes, we're rhyming now and we don't care.
The fact of the matter is that you'd be hard pressed to spot an elementary student that isn't carrying a backpack, the good part is that they can be as expensive or as affordable as you want them to be. The photos in the gallery above include prices and website information.
Happy backpacking!

I totally carried backpacks, but maybe it was because I was up north and needed something to hold my hat and mittens during class. My first one was a Smurfs backpack, and while carrying that backpack, I learned that reading on the bus makes me motion sick ... after which, I needed a new backpack. My Little Pony, I think. And I stopped reading on the bus.
