Anna Sui wants to save the Garment Center with a tee

Filed under: Fashion, News, Stylish Living

New York's Garment District is shrinking, and designer Anna Sui is looking to save it in the best way she knows how -- through fashion. She, along with myriad other major names in the fashion industry, have banded together to raise awareness of the problem through a black t-shirt with a simple message: Save the Garment Center.

Zoning laws have changed the way the buildings in this area are viewed, and many landlords are hoping to turn what have been factories into luxury lofts and hotels, leaving many contractors in the industry with nowhere to go.Sui, along with Vera Wang, Nicole Miller, Nirciso Rodriguez, and many others are encouraging their fellow Council of Fashion Designers of America members to help promote the tees, which have the email addresses of important NYC officials on the back, at their shows and on their websites.

This might be the biggest fashion statement we see at New York Fashion Week this year!
