We love all of the amazing independent designers out there. In order to find out more about just what makes all of these creative types tick, we present to you an ongoing segment called Indie Designer Interviews.

Today's featured indie designer is Amy Snider of Every Little Counts, a line of sexy, flirtatious tees bound to inspire romance.

Tell us a little about yourself and your work. Every Little Counts is a small independently owned LA- based company dedicated to creating an affordable and unexpected graphic t-shirt line for the die-hard romantic. I own and run the business with my husband, Adam. Together we combine our backgrounds in fashion, art, and graphic design to construct this feminine yet edgy collection. I compile a bunch of ideas and images as inspiration, and together we work on the graphics for each style. This is mostly Adam's area. He will usually come up with about 5 different ideas for each style, and we will edit them together. Each piece is made with love and silk-screened by hand in our studio in the east side of Los Angeles.

How did you get started as a designer? I had spent 6 years working in both NYC and LA as a designer. I had always wanted to start my own business, so when the company I was working for closed last spring, I was actually ecstatic. There is nothing worse than working for someone else, creating a product you don't believe in. I gained a lot of experience over the years, working for other small businesses, so I thought there is no better time to do this. LA is a great place to start a small business. The rent is cheaper than NY and there are so many resources close by.

What inspires your work? Film- mostly from the 60's and 70's and mostly foreign, love, literature, coming of age, music, everything French! I have been collecting photos, quotes, and memories since I was in high school. We get a lot of ideas from the journals and sketchbooks I have kept over the years. There is never a shortage of ideas!

Who are your favorite designers? For me fashion is about creating a mood. I like to feel like I am stepping back in time or a character in a movie. For this reason, I love vintage and I love finding a treasure. As for my favorite designers, I love Lover the label, for the romantic appeal of their clothes. I like Built by Wendy because it feels very preppy and school girl. For a real feminine put together look, I love Rebecca Taylor. And for indie designers, I love Wiksten, Supayana, Mociun, and Itsola.

Any advice you would give to aspiring designers? Gain experience in your field, absorb everything, and do the research. I read countless books and articles about starting a business. It is especially hard to make a name for yourself now since there are so many designers out there. The product really needs to be different.

Where can people find your work? We sell direct on our website, www.everylittlecounts.net and we also sell limited edition items in our Etsy shop, www.everylittlecounts.etsy.com. You can also find us in select boutiques around the country (more info can be found on our website).
