Remember those high-heeled Timberlands that Manolo Blahnik designed a few years back? Though they had their devotees, including Beyonce, our feeling has always been that some shoes are just not meant to have a heel. Exhibit A: platform flip-flops. Exhibit B: these new, cherry red Dr. Martens.

Like the solo career of Courtney Love, these are a byproduct of the grunge era that will likely offend the taste of most people who were a part of it, and be of little interest to anyone who wasn't. Let's hope this is just a temporary experiment. My guess is that Dr. Martens will quickly learn that heels and workboots just don't mix.
