Sometimes pointless accessories are attractive enough to justify their uselessness, but these ballet style lacy lace-up socks from Betsey Johnson border on baffling. First of all, they look like they would fall apart at first touch. Secondly, what kind of shoes would work with this? Even the model legs in the sample photos can't make the socks look good, leaving the lacy edges sloppily spilled over the edges of the pump.

We can kind of dig what look they were trying to achieve, though, but we've seen it done better with a couple of cheap ribbons strategically wrapped up and around a pump-clad foot. It's a simple and cheap way to get the same ballet-inspired look without looking too ridiculous. Plus, it's another way to get a look from an otherwise average-looking heel.

Unsurprisingly, you can pick up a pair at Urban Outfitters, the provider of many other pointless things, but we bet you can think of a better way to get rid of $12, like burning it.
