3.1 Phillip Lim's "Sophie" bag doesn't exist

When we came across this 3.1 Phillip Lim bag in the pages of In Style, we were instantly obsessed. The cobalt blue and black leather. The chain strap. The haphazardly-arranged jewels.
However, after hunting online and around town, we couldn't find said bag anywhere.
In desperation, we called the new Phillip Lim store in West Hollywood today and were told by the woman who answered the phone that, sadly, the "Sophie" bag never actually went into production. (We also learned that we were definitely not the first to call and ask about it.)
Phillip, you're such a tease! On the upside, we saved $450, but alas. Our dream bag is but an illusion.

This has happened to me numerous times. Not quite to this extent that the item doesn't actually exist, but plenty of times I see something in a fashion mag that I love, only to go to the webite, store, etc...to find the item is either discontinued, or is actually from the previous year's collection and hasn't been sold in some time. I wish they'd stop this ridiculousness.
