Fashion designers take inspiration from everywhere -- movies, books, the street, a dream -- but severe weather? Sure, why not?

Amid destruction lies art, and those with an extraordinarily artistic eye are able to find beauty in the path of the Katrinas and Gustavs. For example, Candice Kenmuir found inspiration in Hurricane Wilma, using the debris she found afterward to create four designs for her senior class exhibition project.

Additionally, designers are using hurricanes as the themes for their collections. Abigail Lorick will debut the Lorick Spring 2009 collection in an upcoming episode of Gossip Girl, and has a showcase with themes such as "After the Storm", "Demolition Party", "Overgrown Garden", and "Bedroom Disaster."

We have to say that, while hurricanes are nothing to be taken lightly (although we do love a good hurricane party), it's great to see something fun and interesting come out of them!
