Simply Sarah's handmade cardsWe love all of the amazing independent designers out there and we wanted to find out more about what makes these creative types tick. If you do too, check out more of our Indie Designer Interviews.

If you're in search of the perfect finishing touch for a birthday gift or you'd like to send your heartfelt congratulations to someone celebrating a milestone, look no further than the handcrafted greeting cards by today's featured indie designer, Sarah Stahl.

Tell us a little about yourself and your work. My name is Sarah Stahl. I am a military spouse and a stay at home mother of two. I happily live my life in full devotion to Jesus through serving my husband and children. All the while, trying my hardest, to make a fun filled, happy home for my kids to grow up in hopes that one day they will love and serve Jesus themselves.

How did you get started as a designer? My card making has been a rapidly upward evolution, ever since my husband encouraged me to sell my photographs as a way to help supplement some income. In order to pay for the camera though, I looked for something that would help me save up. I went scrolling through the crafty section of the base library looking for ideas of things to make and sell. I found a book on paper creations and haven't looked back.

Simply Sarah's handmade Green Christmas cardI so enjoy each paper creation I make and am always looking for ways to improve on what customers are looking for. With our "on the go lifestyle" of uprooting every three years or so, Etsy selling has been an ideal method of selling. I have since joined the "Etsy Homefront Team" in which I have received daily support and guidance from other military spouses to encourage and learn new ways to create as well as cope with our military lifestyle.

Any advice you would give to aspiring designers? Find something you actually enjoy and become truly good and well versed in your craft. Handmade items are up and coming but don't just jump on the bandwagon. Love your work in great detail so that your buyers will appreciate and continue to come back for more.

What inspires your work? I always find the most inspiration out of viewing others work. There are so many talented folks with exquisite imaginations. Seeing new designs, color combinations and shapes constantly encourages me to come up with something else fun and stunning.
