People Tree's ethical runway show

Filed under: Fashion, Best of the Season, Runway Report

People Tree, a pioneer in the world of eco-conscious fashion, held a swanky runway show in the hip London club Whiskey Mist at Zeta last night, and it wasn't only the clothing that was held to ethical standards. People Tree chose to use models from Quintessentially Models, an agency that "takes an ethically-based approach to model management refusing to represent any 'size zero' models."

Don't think for a second, though, that this was a bunch of chubby hippies looking at tie-dye t-shirts. People Tree's Autumn/Winter 2008 is full of trendy dresses, tops, and capes. Check out the gallery to see a sampling of styles.

  • antonia tunic
  • bora aksu silk shirt dress
  • striped tie-neck top
  • antony striped shirt
Here's the question -- does it make a difference to you that an eco-fashion company used models held to stricter health standards? Or do you feel that fashion is just fashion, and the girl who looks best should be the one on the runway?
