Model for a Day - Spiegel Reality Dressing, Hair and Makeup
Filed under: Cuts & Style, Beauty, Hair, News, Makeup
This is the second part of my Model for a Day series in which I share with you my experience as a model for the Spiegel Reality Dressing photoshoot in New York City. You want behind the scenes? You've got it!As I shared earlier, I had the amazing opportunity to be a model for a day for Spiegel's Reality Dressing feature, and while I might be a regular girl, but they absolutely made me feel like a sought-after model.
Fortunately, my husband came along with me to photograph the whole experience. You know, because I wasn't getting my picture taken enough, what with this being a photoshoot and all. But I digress.
I was picked up in a town car and driven to the studio, where there were two photography crews, a number of stylists, and three hair and makeup stations. After snacking on some fruit, I went to hair and makeup. My hair and makeup stylist, Amanda, told me from the beginning that she didn't want to make me look like someone else, and to let her know if she was doing anything I didn't like.
She played around with my hair, giving it some curl and volume (she said a little curl in short hair, like mine, photographs a little better than straight and sleek -- who knew?). I've actually replicated what she did since I've been home, and I got compliments from everyone. As far as makeup, she kept it surprisingly simple, using some shimmery purple on my eyes, and, otherwise, keeping my face pretty natural.
It was such fun seeing all the other girls getting hair and makeup done -- there were rollers and makeup brushes flying everywhere, and the room was full of smiles. I think we all enjoyed ourselves, but then again, who doesn't love being pampered?
After hair and makeup, it was on to one of my favorite things -- clothes!
