Lauren Conrad's clothing line dying a slow death at racks
Filed under: Style in the News, News
After presenting at LA Fashion Week with much fanfare and receiving an award from US Weekly for creating the most fashionable celebrity clothing line this year, The Hills' Lauren Conrad has found herself in a veritable quandary: no one wants to buy her pieces anymore.
Agh...the outrage!
It turns out that her little appearance at Bloomingdale's a couple of weeks, you know, the one that made the department store's vice chairman proclaim that LC's collection was "the best-selling celebrity line [they had]," well, didn't do much to help her brand's slagging sales.
Apparently, the racks with Lauren's designs are totally overstuffed because no one wants to buy anything. At all. Not even when stores like Kitson offer a buy-one-get-one free deal are people willing jump on those jersey dresses. But really, this is suppose to be a surprise to whom?

Her clothes are really expensive, and I think its ridiculous.....I saw a nice cotton skirt that she had on, I went to her site it was 300.00, I refuse to pay that much for a skirt from someone whose line just came out. Her line isn't equivalent to Vertigo, or BCBG, why does her stuff cost so much.
She clearly needs to get over it.

When her line came out I read an article on it and her line costs more because she chooses to have her clothes made in the US rather than overseas for cheap labor.

I think her line is really classy and I love the simplicity of it. It works if that is your style. I saw that hautelook.com and Mark cosmetics is giving away two FRONT ROW TICKETS to Lauren Conrad's FASHION SHOW! You get dressed by Lauren and you get to keep the clothes. Do you think this will be filmed for the show?

Just because you have a great sense of style doesn't mean you can be a designer. I think Lauren would be great at merchandising area. I think some of her clothes are cute, but nothing no one else has not come up with already. I think they are way over priced. They are not at all original. But they are cute in the "i've already seen this before but it's something i can add to my wardrobe just like the stuff at the gap is" way. But without the gap prices! She should be a stylist or a buyer. But maybe she will improve, that is if she even really designs her clothes.
