Anne Hathaway Style Evolution

Anne Hathaway has been working the red carpet since her days as a Disney Princess but it was her stint as assistant to a certain Prada-wearing Devil that exposed her to the glories of couture. With her latest film Rachel Getting Married generating Oscar buzz for the 25 year-old actress, Stylelist decided to take a look back at the starlet's journey from pretty teen to powerful fashion role model.

In 1999 Hathaway attended a Fox TV event at NYC's Lincoln Center wearing a basic (read boring) slacks and sweater combo.

Hathaway's early event looks included pairing red lipstick and thick romantic curls with an off the shoulder top and fringe skirt at the Billboard Music Awards in December 1999,

Hathaway's chic strapless sheath at the 2001 premiere of her breakout film The Princess Diaries indicated that the actress was growing more confident in her fashion choices.

Accessorizing is a learned skill, and Hathaway almost got it right at the party celebrating Sex and the City's fifth season in 2002.

Hathaway almost scored a style 10 in Elie Saab's fuschia and green mousseline assymetrical hem dress with embroidered bust at the 60th Annual Golden Globe Awards in 2003.

Maybe she gave her hair and makeup team the night off? A raccoon-eyed Hathaway wore an ill fitting pink dress to the GM Rocks event in 2004.

Moving up the Hollywood (and fashion) food chain, Hathaway nabbed an invitation to the exclusive Vanity Fair Oscar Party in 2004.
