TK Maxx pulls knife-weilding jacket from shelves
Filed under: News

British retailer TK Maxx (no, it's not a typo -- it's the UK version of TJ Maxx in the States) got a little more than it bargained for with Swiss-branded coat it stocked -- the coat came with a concealed knife as a promotional gift. A chain on the inside of the coat leads to a pocket, and inside the pocket hides a knife with a two-and-a-half-inch blade (see a picture here).
Reps for the chain claim they had no idea the coat came with a knife, and yanked it from the shelf as soon as they were made aware of it. Still, TK Maxx is coming under heavy fire due to the fact that knife violence is at an all-time high. In fact just a year ago one of the retailer's own employees was stabbed to death.
Those dying to get their hands on this knife-coat are most likely out of luck, although it appears not all stores have done a complete and thorough job of pulling the product -- a couple were found by unsuspecting shoppers after the recall.
