Lanvin at Paris Fashion Week - real clothes for real women - or not
Filed under: Fashion, Runway Report
Israeli designer, Alber Elbaz, said his goal for the Lanvin show in Paris this year was to make clothes for real women to wear. And for the most part he succeeded -- aside from a few pink and blue animal print numbers that came down the runway at the very end. The only real woman we can see wearing that outfit is Brooke Hogan's mom, or maybe even Brooke Hogan herself.Lanvin said he wanted to take things back to the basics, "Whatever's happening now it's the end of fake. What's not real will go. What we have to do now is make life easier for women."
Aside from the last couple of models, truthfully, most of the clothes would look great on the red carpet. Do celebrities count as real women? Because we could totally imagine tiny cuties like Natalie Portman or Rachel Bilson wearing some of the one shoulder garments. Even though we're a little sick of that trend, it looked fresher when done by Lanvin. Anyways, real women who have hips probably want to stay away from most of the skirts which would add bulk and make anyone over the size of negative two look fat.
