Paris Fashion Week top 5 - Tip of the day!

Filed under: Fashion, How to Wear, Runway Report

So Paris' Fashion Week has final come to an end. *Cue the tears* While we are ecstatic about what's come out of it, we are sad that the most glorious fashion shows on the planet are over. *sigh* We guess we can pull it together enough to reminisce about our five favorite Paris Fashion Week shows – Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Chanel, Lanvin, and Louis Vuitton.

Alexander McQueen

This show was amazing. It was totally McQueen, very out there and imaginative, but not as harsh and, well, downright scary as some of his previous collections. We read somewhere that was inspired by an old gnarled tree in his English country home and we could definitely see that in some of the swirling, animalistic prints. Incredible.

John Galliano

For both the John Galliano and Dior shows, designer John Galliano definitely showed his signature flare but in a more subtle, flitty, flirty way. The dresses in John Galliano were surprisingly wearable and were juxtaposed by the wild hats, which were the usual madness that we expect from Galliano. They almost make us want to start wearing outrageous hats. Almost.

Chanel

Obviously. What we mean is, was there ever a Chanel show we saw that we didn't like? Doubtful. This show was full of the traditional Chanel tweeds, suits, and jackets but with a punk twist (fingerless gloves, chains). And talk about going out with a bang. Karl Lagerfeld outdid himself with this seasons spectacular gown finale.

Lanvin

Alber Elbaz was quoted by Style.com as saying "Whatever is happening now, it's the end of fake. What we have to do now is make life easier on women." His models kissed extensions, overdone do's, fake tans, and boat loads of makeup good. What emerged was a very clean, minimalistic Lanvin girl who takes five minutes to get ready in the morning and still looks fabulous. Alber we heart you!

Louis Vuitton

Quite possibly one of the most inventive, no wait, the most inventive show of the entire season. Marc Jacobs' 80s inspired collection was completely over the top and has given us some accessories to really dream about until spring. And Marc looked so handsome when he took his bow! We can't believe this chic man was a geekster not three years ago.

Honorable mention: Valentino

Alessandra Facchinetti's collection for Valentino was incredible. We literally scribbled, "OMG!" on our notes. We would almost imagine that a more ladylike, less promiscuous Kate Moss would indulge in some of the starburst prints. A "soft" rock star look we'll call it. We were also completely drawn to the flats that Facchinetti paired with evening dresses. The death of the stiletto? We wish!
