Mantyhose - eMANcipation or borderline cross-dressing?
For whatever reason, it seems appropriate to point out that many of history's "great men" like Napolean have been the tight-wearing types. But now that times have changed -- and men's couture no longer consists of powdered wigs and painted faces. So, staging a comeback for men's hosiery seems just a little bit eccentric and shady.
With the advent of manscara, manties, and now a major campaign to promote the acceptance of men wearing nylon stockings -- we can't tell if this is a genuine fashion trend, OR an attempt to make guys look stupid by convincing them that it's cool to wear pantyhose?
Sites promoting mantyhose say: no way, men's tights are all about masculinity and comfort. In fact, the e-MANcipate campaign strongly discourages men from selling out and shopping in the ladies hosiery section, saying: "Don't strengthen those companies who don't produce/sell male pantyhose... Buy male pantyhose." Other mantyhose enthusiasts list benefits like an extra layer to combat chafing while riding a bike. Or, the added warmth on a cool Autumn morning.
Hmmm, maybe pantyhose are really masculine. That must have been why Robin Hood liked them so much.
Actually, we think e-MANcipate's campaign is really hilarious -- partly because we can't tell if it's genuine or not. If some guy wants to wear pantyhose, good for him. When it comes to staging a campaign for society to accept mantyhose, we can't say we're really all that interested -- and here's why: what do you do with all of that ugly leg hair sticking out through the mantyhose? Not too attractive.
What do you think? Will you promote the acceptance of pantyhose in men's fashion?

I wear tights and pantyhose quite often, as well as skirts for men. And yes, I do shave my legs. No crossdressing: I wear just products made for men.
I'm married, have a 3-yrs old daughter.

Sad!
Well, actually, they're not much different than knee-high socks. But, still, I wouldn't wear them. And, I'd probably laugh at any guy that was - behind his back though, and quietly.

In medieval Europe this would be acceptable for a man. But, now of days, it's just borderline cross dressing.

I don't think wearing tights or pantyhose as a man is "borderline cross dressing" or so. There is a growing number of producers that offer hosiery specifically made for men (Comfilon in US, Gerbe, Ergee, Levee, Collanto, Aries, Lida, Evona, etc) and their sales are growing more and more. This is no coincidence; the stigma of pantyhose/tights as part of crossdressing is already now an anachronism.
Secondly, following your logic, women today are crossdressing as well - they wear trousers, suits, ties etc. Of course, nobody complains about it nowadays...
Apparently, there is something rotten about the double-standards in mens' and womens' clothing.

Peter, it was just my opinion. And, it wasn't directed at you in particular. Call me old fashioned if you like, but I still think it's cross-dressing. And, my opinion wont change just because you didn't like it.

Bill, I meant it in general.
Old fashioned way of thinking is OK and of course there is nothing wrong about it.
I just think sometimes one has to change opinions vis-a-vis society's development: if there is a growing number of solid/serious companies making and selling mens' nylon hosiery, we can't really call these products as for crossdressers, because they are really not meant and designed like that.

Lerwear as Unisex Fashion
Male pantyhose wearers have discovered something that few people in their lifetimes have discovered; a means of bringing comfort to themselves. The reasons we wear are as individual as our membership; for medical reasons; they feel real good, sexual satisfaction, makes our legs look better; conceals imperfections perhaps from an accident; fitness apparel; LAUF!!! et al.
Here's a news flash to all of us, SO's included - we wear because we can! I, like all of you have gone through the stages of enjoying and wearing pantyhose and tights; experimentation, fascination, implementation, dedication; perpetuation. And through the years, this has brought most of us over the brink of - consternation.
We KNOW that pantyhose is traditionally construed as intimate apparel for women; we KNOW men don't wear women's clothing; we KNOW our SO's, let alone our loved ones and friends, would deem us weird at best if they found out our secret.
But we also KNOW how comforting and sensuous it is to wear pantyhose. And we KNOW that wearing makes those of us daring enough to break through the gender-induced barrier comforted, contented and pleasured. We KNOW the electrifying feel throughout the day of the nylon caressing our bodies that one never gets used to.
Women can't understand because to them it is THEIR domain. Women wear pantyhose merely as a cosmetic to enhance their legs, thus when they see or hear of men wearing legwear, they conclude we may be a little on the sexual deviant side because we want our legs to 'look sexy' also. Gay partners may feel insecure because in seeing their partner wearing legwear, to them it could be a threat that they are going 'to the other side'.
Guys, you gotta realize that guilt is a society-induced condition of the brain. Society puts guilt in our minds when we do things that are generally deemed as unacceptable behaviour; lying, cheating, stealing, murdering, yadda-yadda-yadda. Guilt has the ability to make us more human, to have the capacity to make things right if we've wronged someone. Well guess what lads, YOU HAVEN'T WRONGED ANYONE!!!
People for the most part don't understand why they do what they do anyway. But we do! We know EXACTLY why we wear pantyhose and we like it! Others may not understand, but they need to realize this: We like to wear pantyhose, I- like to wear pantyhose; in fact I'm
sitting here in taupe pantyhose and a sweat shirt keying this as we speak!
We're not hurting anyone! But be sure of this; you WILL be hurting yourself if you give in and not wear because of guilt. If you indeed do have the 'nylon' gene, you will do more harm than good if you try to deny yourself.
I don't think you'll see a pantyhose addiction group anytime soon, where you will have to stand up and say, ' Hi, I'm Mike and I wear pantyhose." I mean, who cares?
No, guilt is a state of mind; if YOU think it's wrong, you will feel guilty. But, you see that's just the point - there's NO reason to feel guilty...we're just wearing an article of clothing we REALLY enjoy wearing! Don't you see? And that's the whole point of this forum!!! You're not alone, and we are all of the same feeling.
Until this forum came along, all of us being isolated and of course never talking about it to another guy, have entertained feelings of guilt. Then we discovered that the world is full of like-minded men who love their pantyhose! Kudos to the wonders of the internet!
Newflash to all: it's perfectly normal to wear pantyhose. The great secret to life is to KNOW YOURSELF! And if you are TRUE to yourself and in touch with your feelings, then go ahead and wear them with confidence! Wear pantyhose, wear tights, but wear them like it's no big deal. Because if YOU make an issue of it, you can be sure that those around you will pick up on that. Just wear as you go about your daily routines, and don't overtly bring attention to yourself. If someone challenges you, just tell them you're wearing because you can!
As I've always said; A REAL man wears pantyhose. Why? Because he's risen from the drivel and knows what he wants in life, and is not afraid to stand up for his convictions. You have but one life, don't deny yourself!
I'm not!!!
Remember: Wearing pantyhose is a right AND a privilege!
Hope this helps, God bless you all!

I wear thigh highs and tights every day. As Richard stated, it's only a "big deal" if you want it to be. The styles of stockings these days are tremendous. Why limit yourself?

I must admit that the wearing of pantyhose has indeed become part of my everyday living. My wife is very supportive and enjoys the fact that I wear. Not only does she like the look on me but the silky sensual feeling as well. My desire to wear developed from a childhood fetish for the legs and feet of a woman in silky nylon hosiery. Later it developed that I not only enjoyed the look but wanted to enjoy the feel. I began wearing and have been since. I've tried several styles and brands that were produced for men and I still prefer the ones designed for women. I'm a firm customer of Wolfords Fatal 15 seamless. Feel free to email me.
