Charlie Sheen a model patient?

Ever wonder how celebs get their glowing smiles? The answer is Hollywood dentist Dr. Kevin Sands. Dr. Sands has seen the likes of Britney Spears, Charlie Sheen, Carmen Electra, Josh Holloway, Robert Downey Jr., and Taylor Swift come through his doors. And that's just name a few!According to the doc, "The smile is the ultimate accessory. It's right in the middle of your face where everyone can see so it can really make or break you. I help them look better and they love me for it because they get better jobs with their new found confidence."
We've all seen celebrities experience this confidence. As fans, we can tell that something has been tweaked but it is so slight that it's hard to put our fingers on it. Dr. Sands gave us the scoop on what that that undetectable boosting fix is "porcelain veneers." Dr. Sands claims that most stars have a set but also come in for "like tooth whitening, implants, and Invisalign."
So if these fixes are so slight, it should be easy enough to get a celebrity smile from the comfort of home right? Wrong! Dr. Sands explained that of all the over the counter whitening products he's seen, not one (except maybe the Crest white strips) even remotely whitens. It disturbs up the gums more than anything else. Instead, he suggests that you shouldn't be afraid to use your dentist and that all patients, celebrity or not, should realize that you get what you pay for. If you find a dentist that you like and you're comfortable with, use their services to the full potential. And make sure they are one of the best. As Dr. Sands put it, "There's a Toyota and a Ferrari." When it comes to your mouth, you're gonna wanna go Ferrari all the way!
Even if you can't afford a set of veneers, Dr. Sands suggests that the best way to get a camera ready smile on a budget is to:
• Skip the harsh over the counter products
• Keep up with twice annual dental cleanings
• Floss and brush daily (don't forget your tongue!)
• Stay away from staining items like soy sauce, red wine, and tobacco.
As a last note he wanted our readers to know that it is "so important to build confidence with a smile. We do anything we can to build confidence and make sure our clients love themselves."
Though we tried to get Dr. Sands to dish a little on some of his wild card clients before we let him go, he said that guys like "Charlie and Robert are just model patients. All egos are left behind. What they do on the outside is their business but when they are here they are well behaved. You'd be surprised but a lot of celebrities are the nicest people."
Not as nice as you are though Dr. Sands! Thanks for the tips and best of luck in your practice.
