We love us some Chanel and are smitten with the idea of a slew of biographies about Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel's life. And first up in the series, was the Lifetime biopic titled Coco Chanel. Though the girl playing a young Gabrielle Chanel was believable, all American Shirley McClaine was not. Bummer!Someone must have felt the same way as we did because the second Chanel film this year, Coco Avant (Before) Chanel, began filming on September 15, 2008. It stars Audrey Tautou as Coco. They couldn't have selected a more perfect actress if they tried. We are truly excited about this and can't wait for it to hit the silver screen.

We mentioned a "slew" though didn't we? Well there are two more movies on the Chanel horizon. One has yet to name their big actress and the other has supposedly snagged Demi Moore. As much as we love Demi Moore, we are thinking her portrayal of Coco might be as big a stinker as McClaine's. It's just difficult to imagine Demi as French, let alone one of the most renowned French designers the world has ever known.

Regardless, we heart Chanel and look forward to check each film out as they come. Stay tuned!
