Skully accessories from the tiny little girl

If you get as excited about Halloween as we do, we bet you'll love these handmade felt skullies from the tiny little girl. Available as hairclips, brooches, pin cushions and more, we think these adorable skeletons have arrived all the way from Western Australia just in time!

Tell us a little about yourself and your work. My name is Beth and I am a 27 year old indie designer living in a tiny bedsit flat in Perth, Western Australia. I work in admin during the day and by night I work on my fledgling business - the tiny little girl.

How did you get started as a designer? I've always loved art and loved to show my creative side, I studied art all through high school and continued to mess about with various mediums after that. I started with beaded jewelry design and have recently moved into sewing up one of a kind skully brooches from wool felt.

What inspires your work? I'm very inspired by color and like to include as much color as possible in my work. My flat looks like a rainbow exploded in it and I love to give that feeling in my pieces!

Who are your favorite designers? I really love Brendan Monroe's work, I own a few of his prints (and would love to own an original one day). I'm also a huge fan of Ali J, Audrey Kawasaki and Camilla Engman.

What are your top fashion & beauty must-haves? I can't live without my MAC Studiofix Powder, it's pretty much the only make-up I wear daily - I'm prone to a case of the 'shinies' and this fixes that right up! Fashionwise I've always loved Marc Jacobs, I own a couple of his older style handbags and think they make a great addition to any outfit.

Any advice you would give to aspiring designers? Just keep working towards your dream. I'm only small right now and have made up my mind never to give up until I've reached my goals. I think having a great support network around you is also really important.

Where can people find your work? I have an etsy store, www.thetinylittlegirl.etsy.com, and I also have some skullies for sale on www.shopmoose.com.au (a fantastic Aussie online store) in the jewelry section. I've set up a little website - www.thetinylittlegirl.com and hope to get that looking a bit more flash as time goes on.

We love all of the amazing independent designers out there and we wanted to find out more about what makes these creative types tick. If you do too, check out more of our Indie Designer Interviews.
