Anatomy of a muffin top (and how to avoid it)

We all know what a muffin top is, and we're pretty sure that nobody's a fan. Almost anyone can be a victim -- very few people, regardless of size, are free of pudge down near their hips, and the wrong pants paired with the wrong top is all you need to cause a bit of oozing. Fortunately, the right pants and top can help!

First of all, think about where the waist band hits you. We know, we know -- low rise jeans are hot and all, but if they're hitting you at your widest point and causing a muffin top, is it worth being trendy?

A better choice might be a slightly higher waist -- nothing too high, of course, but a bit closer to your natural waist, which is likely to be firmer, with less chub to hang over the top. And, make sure you're buying the right size -- a size too small will create a problem where there shouldn't be one.

And remember, shapewear isn't just for under fancy dresses -- the right slimming tank or high-waisted shaping panty could help you avoid unsightly bulges, too.
