Hermes unveils a luxury edition Smart Car - Smart luxury?
For anyone who wants to shrink their carbon footprint, but still look totally fashionable while doing it -- while also dropping a boatload of cash on a car that barely seats two average humans -- Hermes has designed a set of ultra-fashionable micro cars to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Smart Fortwo. The cars, available in 10 colors including gold, indigo, and Hermes' trademark orange, made their debut last Thursday at Paris' Grand Palais. These eco-conscious luxury rides will come equipped with leather-wrapped steering wheels and gear-shift covers, along with an interior decked out in Hermes' signature canvas "toile." For a car that represents cutting back for the environment, the luxury treatment might seem a little antithetical. Still, we imagine that super cute ride will make the desired statement -- for both fashion and mother earth.
The interior looks pretty awesome, although we're a little disappointed that they didn't make any changes to the Fortwo's exterior -- which we're not too fond of. The "ForTwo Édition Toile" went on sale last week and has a price tag of €38,000 ($48,564 at today's exchange rates).
