Crocs get ... stylish?

Looks like the Crocs haters have finally gotten through to the company that brought the garden clog into mainstream fashion (and, as far as we're concerned, contributed to the downfall of civilization at the same time). Crocs has started a new line, YOU by Crocs, which is designed to appeal to those who are both fashion conscious and in need of a comfortable shoe. But, as we've already mentioned, we're not buying.
Now, are they as bad as the regular old Croc? No. They don't cause any sort of visceral reaction, and they don't incite the same type of anger as their predecessor. If someone we know and love has to wear Crocs, we'd definitely prefer they be from the YOU by Crocs line.
However, if someone we know and love is going to spend over $100 on a pair of shoes (the line ranges from around $35 to over $200), we have plenty of other shoes we'd introduce them to first.

I have had to have knee replacements and the only thing I can where without pain is Crocs. I love them! I don't know how I would get around without them.

I am a nurse and crocs are the most comfortable shoe around for standing on your feet for long periods-the men in my family wear them, too. My dad is 83 and was hesitant at first to try them, but now he says he is hooked as they have reduced his back pain when standing.

I think it is amazing that writers just can't give the facts about a product without interjecting their opinions. I mean who do they think they are to dictate to me what type or style of shoe I should like. I am so sick of it.

Kristen Seymour, the writer, please try in the future to keep your opinions of the shoes to yourself...I could care less what you think of Crocs.......you were to write an article about their new lines. Why do you think we would even care about your fashion tastes?

Maybe you over looked this, but you are reading a BLOG. This wasn't an evaluation, a trial, an introduction on a formal objective level. Seems a little hypocritcal, that you can complain that your opinion differs from that of the author but you won't accept the author's opinion. We should hear you but she shouldn't be heard? Don't want to read it? Then don't.

wow, everyone bagging on her about 'inserting her opinion' obviously does not get it. this is a blog, not a news artical. it is something for her opinion. and i agree. crocs are ugly and clunky and made to stay in the garden along with the dirt. they arnt a fashion, they are a lack of. they are shoes for people who dont care, and anyone who actually thinks they are fashoinable and stylish needs to get their heads checked

Well, la de dah, Miss Emily! You, of course, are entitled to your opinion but, do not make the statement that crocs are for people who don't care! That's a strong statement for anyone who cannot really know! I happen to think crocs are ugly too BUT, some of us have to wear them because of foot problems. Yes, Crocs-RX, prescribed by podiatrists all over the country. Guess what! They look just like the regular Crocs, still ugly, but, they walk a lot differently, relieving pain, as they are more gently on pressure points. So, you see, I wear them and I care!!! Care more about less pain in my feet than I care about fashion and anyone else's opinion. It's a no-brainer to me. Good old common sense!!

Kristen, you are not buying, but I am :)
Crocs not for the stylelist.com writer, but for those who seek comfort.

I have arthritis In my feet, ankles, and knees, and I have spent thousands of dollars on custom orthotics and expensive shoes recommended by my doctor, but the $20 Croc beats them all, hands down. It is the only shoe that I can wear without pain. Those of you who don't live in constant pain can sneer at "comfortable" shoes, but as for me I don't care how ugly they are, the pain relief is worth it.

Miss Emily while all should express their own opinion if you plan to make a statement on fashion and make it sound so condescending towards others remember this. People may take you more seriously if you could actually spell.

no offense chris, but if you're going to provide criticism on the ability or inability of another to spell, perhaps you should look into seeing what you can do to improve your grammar and punctuation. there were only two or three spelling mistakes in her post and i found the same amount of grammar mistakes in your post.

hey, whatever,, but you know they sure are expensive ugly shoes !! I throwed my Nikes aside and I bought the sandal and the regular crocs while in Disney World, couldn't get anything better for all that walking... Love them !!

I suppose that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the fact that Crocs are found everywhere and I do mean everywhere says a great deal about their appeal to the general population. Many of us are looking for comfort - like me with two nasty bunions - and I wear them year 'round mixed in with wool clogs from Haeflinger. I don't know what I would do without these "shoes." As a grandmother who babysits daily, these are a perfect fit for me, along with my jeans and wrinkle-free shirts! One thing that I do want to mention is not to waste money on knock-offs. They are not nearly as comfortable; the difference is noticeable. So if you lust for Jimmy Choos or Manolos, so be it, but please respect those of us that take comfort where we find it! And I should add that while my grandson was hospitalized for a month in our local children's hospital, I noticed that the staff - both men and women - wore Crocs in every color of the rainbow!

Who cares what they look like? They are comfortable!! I'm a respiratory therapist and LOVE THEM!! I think crocs are for people who are more concerned with how they feel rather than look. If you are so egotistical that you sacrifice comfort for looks, your nuts. That or you've never stood on your feet for the better part of a 12 hour shift. You obviously don't have enough self esteem so you must make up for it with your apparel. CROCS ROCK!
