Tongue art on the rise - A bold new canvas?

In our effort to stay on top of all of the latest trends in body art -- especially the stuff that is exceedingly weird or gross -- we couldn't help but to cover the creepy world of tongue art. Sure, we've all seen tongue piercings -- but that's only the beginning. Tongue art is not limited to simple studs or tattoos, creative tongues the world over are lapping up their new role as the latest canvas on which to show body art.

BTW, we're pretty sure the zipper tongue was Photoshopped -- but hopefully it's a blueprint for what the person will have done as soon as their stock portfolio goes back up.

In our opinion, the tongue tat ranks in the top 3 most extreme places to get a tattoo, coming in just behind the eyeball tat, and uhh ... tattoos in other highly sensitive areas. We can't even imagine keeping out tongue still for long enough to ink even a smiley face.

For the most part, tattoos have become pretty acceptable in American culture. Tongue art, on the other hand, is still new and fresh -- so we're not exactly sure what to do with it.

Are these people going to regret having their tongue being a focal point every time they have a conversation with a stranger? Is the tattoo removal industry ready to un-ink the human tongue?

Are these people going to regret having their tongue being a focal point every time they have a conversation with a stranger?
I think that tongue tattoos, unlike tongue piercings, are more likely to blend into the background in a person's mouth when they talk. For the most part I believe people getting mouth tattoos stick with simple designs in darker colors, these are things that would easily be lost in the shadows of ones mouth when having a conversation.
While playing tonsil hockey? That's another matter entirely. :)

Is the tattoo removal industry ready to un-ink the human tongue?
From what I understand mouth tattoos (tongues, inner lips and any other body part--like your hands--that is disturbed quite often) don't last very long because they are constantly being touched by other body parts, food, etc. I think they would mostly fade away before someone was to really look into getting them removed.
