American Apparel gets sued by former accountant - Dirty laundry

Filed under: Style in the News, News

We all know that American Apparel likes to play fast and loose with its steamy, semi-pornographic ads. Well, rumor has it that advertising isn't the only department where CEO Dov Charney likes to spice things up. According to a wrongful termination lawsuit filed by a former accountant, American Apparel decided to can him because he refused a request by Charney to put the company's sales figures in a sexy tank thong to make them more attractive to investors.

That's not to say that we automatically take the accountant's side or anything. Sure, there are plenty of rumors out there that Charney is a kinda sleazy guy, but there's nothing to indicate that he's actually guilty of anything more than being a seriously perverted hipster demigod -- until this.

The case, filed in LA County Superior Court, states that AA's infamous CEO "demanded that Mr. Hernandez pad the inventory" to lure investors, back in 2006 when AA was still a private company. Now, it looks like American Apparel can add an 'attempt to defraud investors' charge to the list of things they've been accused of. A list which already includes 5 sexual harassment lawsuits.
