Train Conductor Couture by Lutz & Patmos
Filed under: Fashion, News, Best of the Season
Tina Lutz and Marcia Patmos invite a new guest to design for their label, Lutz & Patmos, each season. Invitees have included director and Marc Jacobs muse Sofia Coppola, Carine Rotfield of French Vogue, famed architect Richard Meier...and now Amtrak train conductor Chris Waugh.Lutz met Waugh while taking the train back and forth from New York City to her home in Rhode Island, and the two struck up a friendship. Lutz had the idea to invite him to design for their Spring 2009 collection. He agreed, and named the 3/4-length sleeved, hooded sweater he designed the "Shoreline," after his train.
Waugh says the sweater was inspired by his daughter, Brooke, and is dedicated to his father, who is suffering from Parkinson's disease. In his honor, Lutz & Patmos will donate $20 from the sale of each piece to the Parkinson's Foundation. You can check out the cashmere and wool sweater -- which comes in five colors -- here.
