The Victoria's Secret Angels are famous worldwide for their beauty and amazing bodies. They smile as they confidently stomp down the runway. But, make no mistake about it, these women work hard to look that good in their lingerie.
There's a reason why they're paid millions to do what they do -- because it involves torture. Little diet tricks like cutting out carbs completely or spending a large portion of their days jumping rope are just a few of the ways these hard-bodies tone up pre-show. That's why not a single jiggle can be seen by the time the big event rolls around.
Doutzen Kroes, one of the newest models to join the ranks, says, "For other fashion shows you can be skinny, but for Victoria's Secret, you need definition."
Marisa Miller adds that because of the nature of the show, the pressure is on, "When you're on the runway, you're moving so it's all about toning up."
The ladies do look ridiculously hot, so in the end their sacrifices pay off -- but what kind of a life is one with no pasta or potatoes? Weigh in with our poll below.

We, Americans, love beautiful people. We spend a fortune on looking good, clothing, makeup, cars, etc. I can tell you that the easiest and cheapest way to look good is to lose weight. Lookin' good like these celebs is well worth the effort. I lost 47 pounds in 6 weeks using the Rapidthin diet at www.rapidthin.com. Good luck to all. Use what works for you.

Staying healthy is the key in health. Losing a ton of weight isn't always whats best. At one time I lost a too much weight and I looked very unhealthy and I was always sick. I altered my diet, gained some pounds and, bam, I looked and felt great. A little meat on your bones is healthy and by the way, men prefer women with something to grab, instead of worrying if they are going to break you. Be true to yourself and lets stop this stereotype that you must be stick thin to be beautiful.

Just interested in what sort of a diet is the rapid thin diet, I have tried others on line and did not have much luck. Would you enlighten me before I purchase. Syl

I like when people are honest about how much hard work it is to look great. C'mon, you can't have a body that great with definition from doing nothing and eating french fries. I know I feel much better about myself and am more confident in my interactions with others when I am in better shape.
For years I felt like the biggest loser as I was a overweight most of my life. When I started working, it just got worse. Coffee break was a donut or coffee roll and lunch was always a big helping of fried stuff from the salad bar.
I switched jobs to working for a company that gives out fruit at 10 am and has a cafeteria that has healthy options. It helped me start my journey of weight loss and I am a better worker as I am no longer tired in the afternoon.
I strive to eat healthy and lead by example for my daughters and to feel better about myself. I eat flax every morning for health and weight loss reasons. I have the same breakfast now every day. I recently lost 30 pounds following the
weight watchers program http://www.weightwatchers.com and I now just
am more watchful every day of what I eat. I have a banana low fat yogurt with golden roasted flax for breakfast every day. It is filling, keeps me regular and tastes fabulous (kinda like sesame seeds). My Weight Watchers leader recommended fitflax to me and it definitely helped the last 10 pounds to melt off. It is low carb and low cal. It is a flax and chia blend and I think I read about it in O mag. They also listed a code to get 10% off. The site is http://www.fitflax.com and the code for 10% off is

I know I will never look like a Vicky S model, but I am happy with myself and feel good in my clothing!

I don't want to be that skinny, I just want to be that tall! I hate being so short, haha.

I work out everyday and eat a healthy diet but I can't cut out carbs or my wine! A good friend and I stood at the mirror in our bikinis this summer laughing about our little guts and how her sister has six pack abs and works out and diets just to look like that. I said what a bummer. Let's go have a beer and be happy!! At least we will have pretty smiles instead of "six pack abs", we drank a six pack!!

We have out so much emphasis on looks, it makes me sick. In China women who have little feet are beatiful, hundreds of years ago high foreheads were attractive. If our value and identity is in how we look, we will never know for sure who we are because our bodies are always changing, AS IS the "status quo" in the 50's and 60's vuluptuos women were the flavor of hollywood, now it's the 20lb underweight look like your 14 woman. We have to stop this. Our value and our worth is in the One who made us. He made us how we are because we are all a unique expression of Himself. We-in our big noses, high foreheads, asymetrical faces, baby fat bellies, are WORTHY in His eyes. Please ladies, don't buy the idea that you are what you look like. That is a lie and it is GARBAGE. You are beautiful because HE made you beautiful. Jesus Christ loves you so much, NOT for what you look like but because HE DOES.

Amen! True beauty comes from within, from being at peace with the Lord, with yourself, and with life. It's sad that so many women focus on their looks as being what gives them value. However, these women's looks are their jobs,so giving up "feel good" foods and working their butts off are worth it to them because that is what they are paid for. Hopefully, they will keep the perspective that this won't last forever and having babies will change your shape, but will make you a more beautiful woman. I know that at 53, weighing 25 lbs. more than I did five years ago, I feel like a much more beautiful woman than I did at 25. I grieve for that woman who hated herself so much that she just saw "ugly" in the mirror.
I believe that we should all try to eat as healthy as possible and exercise regularly so that we can be healthier and feel better, but we shouldn't expect to look like the very few, highly selected celebrities who grace the covers of magazines. I remember watching Cindy Crawford in an interview on a talk show, and she said that SHE didn't look like the picture of her on the cover of the magazine. She talked about how much airbrushing is done to maximize the "beauty" and "perfection" aspects that nobody has, and she agreed with the interviewer that this obsession with image was very damaging, especially for young women.
To the women who have worked hard enough and been blessed with good genes that can confidently walk down a runway in underwear, I say, "you go, Girl! Work it!" Then, when it's over, use the millions you've earned to enjoy life and a doughnut once in a while.
Bernadette 12-03-2008 @ 3:44PM
Anyone that works that hard to look that good deserves the fame and the paycheck to go with it...But, keep in mind alot of the beauty that you see as far as body structure is all in the genes!!!

Cutting carbs completly doesn't sound very safe to me. Your brain's only food is carbs. I also feel you can look like that with a balanced diet and exercise, though the older you get the harder it is to maintain that kind of shape no matter how much you excerise.

Your brain actually relies much more heavily on both protein and fat than it does on carbs; carbs get converted into glucose and then used as energy or stored as fat.
KT 12-03-2008 @ 4:21PM
Eating no carbs is the absolute worst diet to go on! Your body needs carbs to function properly! Your brain works on carbs it cant use anything else. Ever wonder why you get confused if you havnt eaten in a while that why your brain needs carbs!!! stupid stupid stupid. You can have a body like that without being stupid eat carbs!

I think beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I would like to be thinner than what I am but not that thin. Everyone has a different opinion as to what is sexy, and really it comes in all shapes and sizes. Alicia Keyes, and Beyonce for example are sexy woman and they look much better.

You have to be born a thin person and not ever gain a lot of weight to stretch out the skin to bad to ever look like one of these girls! I had it when I was young but, after 3 kids it is gone forever! :(
