Jean-etic Counseling - Tip of the Day!
Filed under: Fashion, Denim, How to Wear
How many times have you shopped for jeans and bought them just slightly snug because, hey, those 5 extra pounds are going to come off sometime right? Wrong! Here are a few tips from DivineCaroline that put reality (whether you want it or not) into jean shopping.• Know your Flow-Chart: Never shop for jeans when menstrual (or pre or post for that matter). Because, you know... water weight, uncontrollable sobbing for no reason... etc, etc.
• Accept that you are not Miley Cyrus: Unless you are 16, leave the juniors department immediately and never look back.
• Know the difference between fitted and too tight: Don't rely on the old "jeans stretch a size" or any sort of wishful thinking while jean shopping. Get a pair that is snug and comfy, not tight.
• Don't be wishy washy: Trends like fraying, fading, or worse, bling, will ultimately look outdated within months. Stick with dark, more flattering washes and classic cuts.
• Understand stretch: Cheap jeans do stretch more so you might have to go a size smaller. But if you pay for good quality stretch denim, you will get what you pay for... in your true size.
• Know your inseam: That way your denim will fit perfectly from top to bottom. If you're looking to find a pair to wear with heels, bring the shoes with you to try on. Or if you find a pair you love, get two, and have them tailored in a short and long length.
