"Vintage Shoes" - Book Review
Filed under: Accessories, Fashion, Stylish Living
If we could marry a book and keep it by our side for all eternity, it would be this book: Vintage Shoes: Collecting and Wearing 20th Century Designer Footwear, by Caroline Cox, with a forward from shoe god Christian Louboutin. The other shoe freaks out there will understand our love for this coffee table book. It's total shoe porn, covering the entire 20th century, with background, designer details and pictures. So many glorious pictures!
Every chapter covers a shoe era. From 1900-1910 you have "Edwardian Elegance" and the divine Louis heel. 1930-1947 was "The Hollywood Heel" with Ferragamo, the wedge and the fabulous platform. The 1960s, "A Youth Revolution" had shiny shoes and space age styles. And there is so much more!
Our favorite part is the summary spread in each chapter, "Key Looks of the Decade" with photos and chunks of information. The 1920s had spectators, mary janes and the laced oxford. 1970s had stack heels, Dr. Scholl's and clogs. Memories!
Published by Harper Collins, this book offers hours of obsessive rereading for the shoe lover in your life.
