Hide Your Hangover From Hell

PICTURE IT: Tonight. You, at a party. Hips swaying to your favorite song. You're thinking "You only live once!" as you decide to have just one more cocktail. Carpe diem, after all! Cut to tomorrow morning, and...ouch. The mirror tells the story. But you can fake looking like you stayed in the night before with a good book with these indispensable day after tips. - Melissa Foss

KEEP
DRINKING
Hello? We mean water. Dehydration, caused by alcohol, is the main reason your skin looks dry and sallow and makeup disappears the second you apply it. First step: Skip the coffee, which saps more moisture from your cells, and chug H2O with abandon. To make it go down smoother so you drink more, add a radiance-boosting nutritional supplement that tastes great, like Dr. Brandt's Anti-Oxidant Water Booster. Try Pomegranate; it's the best-tasting.

HOARD HYDRATION

During your shower, apply a moisture mask like Ling Skincare's Moisturizing Facial Mask, which immediately smoothes parched skin and helps makeup go on and stay on. "Leave on a moisture mask while you shampoo and shave your legs to give skin a double whammy of hydration," says Robin Narvaez, sought-after celebrity makeup artist in Manhattan. When you emerge from the bath, slather on a body moisturizer like Burt's Bees Vitamin E Body & Bath Oil while skin is still damp "to seal in the moisture," says Narvaez.

EYE CUE
Puffy, circled eyes are a dead big-night-out giveaway. A must, says Francesco Clark of Clark's Botanicals, is to keep this delicate area extremely hydrated. Pick a product containing caffeine to reduce puffiness. Also check for Vitamin K on the ingredient list, as it effectively helps fade dark circles over time. A good pick: Clark's Botanicals Anti-Puff Eye Cream. Store it in the fridge-the coolness helps speed de-puffing-for a super fast fix. One more tip: Brush your brows! Nothing screams "I had a naughty night" louder than unruly arches.

DRY OUT

"Resist the urge to cover your telltale blotches with foundation and powder. This will only make you look more dried out and tired," advises Narvaez. Go for a tinted moisturizer to even skin tone like Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer and velvety cream-not powder-blush. NARS Cream Blush in Cactus Flower is a magic bullet for every skin tone. This is the most important step because nothing wakes up a dull complexion than a pop of color on the cheeks.

HAIR OF THE DOG
Spray-in hair powder, like Bumble and Bumble Hair Powder, can be your best friend if you only have time to toss your tresses into a hurried ponytail or chignon. "It makes hair look cleaner and adds volume," says stylist Eliut Rivera (www.saloneliutrivera.com), who has worked with JLo. And add a clip with a little sparkle or a colorful headband. On certain days a little distraction doesn't hurt.

TAN TASTIC
Don't underestimate the effectiveness of a quick-drying spray of self-tanner. Neutrogena MicroMist Tanning Sunless Spray dries instantly, has zero fragrance, and gives you a healthy faux glow.
