On the Red Carpet of the Golden Globes

Michael Buckner is a fashion and celebrity photographer who travels around the world taking pictures on the red carpet. He gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the hottest entertainment industry events.
Kate Winslet, Mickey Rourke and Slumdog Millionaire took home the Golden Globes at the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the 66th Annual Golden Globes Celebration.
Angelina Jolie, Olivia Wilde, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Jennifer Lopez were the fashion winners, sticking to old favorites: Dior, Versace, Armani, Yves Saint Laurent and Oscar de la Renta, proving that even in a recession fashion matters. And since it matters, sticking to tradition will never lead you wrong.
I shot the red carpet as celebrities signed bottles of Moet & Chandon Champagne. It was a champagne toasting bottleneck at the end of the carpet, where security and publicists drag celebrties into the ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Kate Winslet, winner of both Best Actress for "Revolutionary Road" and Best Supporting Actress for "The Reader," signed a bottle of Moet champagne on her way to the One-on-One rooms. Winslet wore black Yves Saint Laurent.
Angelina Jolie, in Versace, hung on the arm of Brad Pitt as the two stars hustled into the show. Pitt's aviators shielded his eyes from the bright flashes of the red carpet.
Tom Hanks sprinted past the last half of reporters as the carpet began to close, as the crowd yelled "Run Forrest Run."

Renee Zellweger looked like she forgot part of her outfit. Drew Barrymore looked like she'd party hard the night before, slept late, and didn't have time to re-do her hair and makeup. And you'd think Mickey Rourke could afford a bottle of shampoo now that he's working again. Pretty much everyone else looked good. Somebody needs to tell Anne Hathaway (or her stylist) that the scary goth look went out years ago, though.
