Shepard Fairey Creates Special Obama Poster for Inauguration
Filed under: News
In approximately seven days, Barack Obama will begin serving his four year term as President of the United States of America. There are going to be millions of people descending upon Washington, D.C. within the next couple of days, preparing to attend super lush inaugural balls and the official swearing in of Obama on the 20th.Unfortunately, not everyone who wants to take part in the festivities will be able to make it. So, in an attempt to remedy this, the Obama Presidential Inaugural Committee has commissioned artist Shepard Fairey to create a series of special posters for the event.
Most of the posters sell for $100, but 1,000 prints signed by the artist are priced at $500. Proceeds will help fund official inaugural events.

The poster is a pathetic aping of communist propaganda art. The design is confused and busy. The faux "seal" looks like stalinist bling with the red and white ribbon bars separating the hailing masses from The One. Truly juvenile. There is nothing American about calling to mind "Dear Leader" totalitarian symbolism.
