The Younger Skin Diet - Week 2

Boydie BeenerSo I've been on my "younger skin diet" for about a week now and there is small but definite improvement – yippee! So just what did I do to get my skin visibly clearer in one week? And just what was learned in Week 2's lesson, "Removing Toxins That Cause Dull Skin?"

As learned last week in "Setting the Foundation," I took away all fancy creams (that means you ProActiv). I also completely cut out the "7 Aging Culprits" and went shopping for wholesome, organic foods. Lastly, I began my cleanses which include a 10 day internal salt water bath (it's super easy -- just Google it) and a Food Intolerence/Sugar Detox.

What were my findings after kick starting all of this?

Non-red, non-irritated skin: As much as I hated to ditch the ProActiv for fear of a massive breakout, my skin actually looks clearer and less irritated this week versus last week's "hangover" photo (hey, some of us just can't hang and were still feeling New Year's Eve a few days later!). I did get a few break outs (as you can see on my chin). But they're just small guys that have gone away in less than 24 hours.

Better breathing: After cutting out weekend cocktails, the occasional cig along with that, and some other "aging culprits," I feel like I can breathe easier, especially while on my daily run.

A "lighter" feeling: The first few days of the cleanses were toughies. My bod freaked out and I was totally exhausted. However, this all lifted around Day 3. My energy soared, my body felt lighter (I lost 5 pounds already!), and I was ready to rock 'n roll through the rest of the cleanse.

A "nurturing" feeling: After taking the time to pick wholesome foods for my family and I, I've felt more compassion towards our little brood which in turn, has turned into extra hugs and kisses for me (score!). I also feel great knowing our 3 year old is eating Veggie Nuggets rather than Chicken Nuggets (and she doesn't even know the difference!).

No sugar cravings: Whereas a week ago, I would've said "Yes!" to Dairy Queen, "Yes!" to cake at that birthday party, and "Yes!" to an Appletini, I said no and all cravings have gone away with it. I even went to see Marley & Me yesterday sans popcorn or treats. Just me 'n my water bottle. And it felt good -- really good!

As for what was learned in Week 2, Rose went over each of the cleansing options in detail and proceeded to tell us just how clogged and gross most of our bodies are from all of the toxins we ingest on a daily basis from processed foods. Barf! If the thought of a slimmer bod and better skin didn't kick me in the butt to start eating better, that sure did!

Stay tuned for Week 3's lesson, "Get Rid of Breakouts Forever." Yes, FOREVER!
