Clubbing in Winter - How Not to be Cold
Filed under: Fashion, Best of the Season, How to Wear, Stylish Living
"Oh my god, that girl must be freezing." You know what we're talking about. You're heading home from dinner or out for drinks and some skinny little thing is standing there with like, no clothes on, waiting to get into a hot nightclub. Clubbing in winter without looking like a douche is tricky, but it must be done! Dancing can really raise your body temperature -- and keep off the pounds, too. Lemondrop has put together a great collection of tips, and here's what we think:
We agree when Lemondrop's article, Sexy, Not Skimpy: Winter-Proofing Your Club Clothes, says to put on some pants or at least tights, go easy on the wintry accessories like mittens and scarves, and to keep your shoes closed-toe, but we want to warn you that the blazer-over-a-dress thing is like, kind of black diamond difficult. Make sure you look like a Gossip Girl and not like an 90's child star like Blossom or Clarissa in their mismatched, dated glory (hey, we agree the look was once glorious). And nipple shields? As if.
We've always gone with the "wear a sweater you can take off and stuff in your jacket sleeve when you check it" trick.
