Hair Product Immunity - StyleLies

We've all been there. You buy a nice shampoo that costs an arm and a leg, expecting it to do miracle work. The first few days, you think the product is a gem. But after a few weeks? Not so much. Do hair products really stop working if you them for months on end?

So many people claim that their shampoo and conditioner combo "just aren't working anymore." Just to appease us, most stylists will switch it up but what they don't tell you is that they are laughing inside. Laughing because, well, there is no evidence that hair builds resistance to product. In fact, as weird as this may sound, the hair on your head is already dead, so there is no way it can build "immunity" to any sort of product.

When most of us think our product has "stopped working," in actuality, we are most likely just experiencing product build up.

You can wash the excess out by:

• Using a strong, clarifying shampoo twice a week.

• Doing an apple cider vinegar rinse once a week.

• Giving hair one day off a week. Wherein you shampoo as normal but do not apply any product for at least full one day until the next shampoo.

Prevent build up and your products will "work" again in no time.
