Have You Scheduled Your Inauguration Procedure?
With so many reported Botox enthusiasts involved in last year's presidential election -- Biden, McCain, and Hilary -- it comes as no surprise that the demand for beauty injections has been skyrocketing during the lead up to Barack Obama's inaugural celebration. Forget about getting a new black dress or a dapper new haircut, the hottest thing to wear at the inaugural celebration this time around is a brand new cosmetic procedure.Apparently, ever since the election, doctors in the DC area have been lining up botox and microdermabrasion appointments like never before. No small feat in an economy that's going through a severe recession. According to one DC cosmetic dermatologist:
"We have been absolutely swamped since the election with people desiring rejuvenation procedures for the upcoming inauguration."It seems kinda strange, but no matter what the cost, everyone suddenly wants to look better than their best for the swearing in -- maybe they're self-conscious about somehow ending up in a historically significant video or photograph.
Even doctors in other major cites are apparently feeling the surge from DC-bound patients. Says one Boston dermatologist: "They're asking for no-downtime procedures to look their best for the festivities."
Does anyone else find it ironic that, in an inauguration that's historical because of what it symbolizes in terms of racial equality, that so many people are concerned with their skin?
