Fashion has become, literally, a whirlwind. There are dozens of shoe trends to prove our point. Some are completely unnecessary (Read: Alexander McQueen's "Barefoot" pumps) while others can be worn day and night by lay folk like us. We've weeded through the good, the bad, and the just plain ugly to present the five shoe trends on our radar for this coming spring/summer.

5. Wedge pump: The pump factor makes them totally office and evening appropriate while the casualness of the wedge makes them perfect for day. Score!

4. Thick, strappy sandals: Just like their thin, fancy counterpart only with lots of thick straps and woven, braided, buckled, and jeweled detail.

3. Tribal: Fringe, Aztec prints, turquoise stones, and bright washes of reds and blues all point to tribal inspiration.

2. 70s Vibe: Whether it's a platform stacked high or a Pucci-esque print, channel a more sophisticated version of Austin Powers with a neutral or muted hue.

1. Studded gladiators: So comfortable. So chic. So versatile. So glad they're back.
