Vintage Red is Ready for Spring and Summer
Filed under: Fashion, Best of the Season, Designers & Brands, Stylish Living
Vintage Red is a favorite of ours. We love the clothes and we live the lifestyle (or we would if we didn't have to sit in front of a computer all day). You may recall us singing the praises of Vintage Red here and here. Well, get ready to hum along, because we've got some more singing to do.Vintage Red is launching their Spring/Summer 2009 (SS09) line and we are very excited. You should be excited, too (and we think you will be).
The line is split into three separate deliveries, Migrate, Plastered and True. Here's a little about each in their own words:
Delivery 1: Migrate
Old world romance meets new world influence was the thought when designing the first delivery, Migrate. The collection harkens back to the days before we all relied on technology when all that was necessary to travel were the clothes on your back along with a few precious essentials in your knapsack. Few mementos from home were brought along for the trip, but reminders are everywhere: patches are affixed to flannels and vintage stamps are screened on shirts. Composed of a palette of true greens and muted navy, key pieces include a dobby stripe button down with a vintage stamp found in archives screened on the back, a signature Vintage Red western-style button down with a wallpaper stripe, and button down in a mini-paisley print with Vintage Red's trademark embroidery. Detail like cargo pockets and zipper are incorporated into the collection and are useful for the pick up and go lifestyle he lives.
Delivery 2: Plastered
Delivery two, Plastered, is about taking remnants of the past and moving forward while retaining a sense of what came before. Imagine layers of plaster or years of paint chipping away to reveal a veiled past. The idea of the hidden mixed with the observable plays strongly into the line; a gauzy palette is accented by subtle tonal colors, chalky whites, and subdued blues. Graphics make an appearance in the form of embroidered feathers, abstract flowers emblazoned on a button down, and a subdued scroll print. Key pieces include a reversible vest composed of a dove grey satin which reverses to an understated plaid and a button down with a hint of a blue jacquard, with pieces to layer interspersed throughout the collection.
Delivery 3: True Colors
The third delivery of the season, True, is an ode to the use of color. Clean and energetic, vibrant blues are where the emphasis lies in the collection, with contrasting yellow, complimentary orange, and accents in black rounding out the palette. Patterns are key this season; ranging from gingham to florals, this collection is all about reveling in life and throwing caution to the wind. Key pieces in the delivery include a button down in cobalt blue with contrast stitching, a shirt with an all over mini-paisley print and unique embroidery, and an all over short-sleeve floral channels noveau Palm Spring in two color ways.
That's pretty much what we were thinking.
As we said, Vintage Red is a favorite of ours. Isn't it time you made them one of yours?
