THE SCOOP: Beauty at Lela Rose's Fall 2009 show was intense and insect-inspired. Makeup artist Tina Turnbow created a smoky, dewy eye in shades of rich emerald and gold, meant to emulate a beetle's iridescent shell. An ultra-sheer wash of antique gold on nails added to the overall lost-in-the-rainforest sheen. Following the theme, stylist Ted Gibson created long, tousled ponytails with a slight pouf at the crown, referencing the horned back of a beetle. Gibson said the creative collaboration between the designer and beauty team was "fantastic."
"A lot of people are copying this or copying that, but Lela's not like that at all, so it's great to have that process with her."GET THE LOOK - MAKEUP: Stila Sheer Color-Tinted Moisturizer, SPF 15; Stila Princess Pearl Palette in Gold & Green; Kajal's in emerald & pearl; Stila Kajal Eyeliner in Emerald & Pearl; Stila Jade smudgepot; Stila Praline Glaze for lips; Stila Constellation and Venus shadows.
