Fall 2009 Fashion Week - Backstage at Luca Luca
Filed under: Fashion, Runway Report
SHOW: Luca Luca
MAKEUP: James Kaliardos, Key Artist for MAC
HAIR: Edward Tricomi for the Warren Tricomi Salon
BEAUTY SNAPSHOT: 1940s glamour
THE SCOOP: James Kaliardos created a look for the Luca Luca show that was all "Hollywood." The makeup artist sculpted the models' eyes, cheeks and face with neutral shades like Bone Beige and Soba to emphasize and highlight. Kaliardos carried over this theme in the brows using muted taupe shadows to add definition. He used a shade stick to bring a little sparkle to the inner eyes, while lashes were curled and black mascara was applied only to the top lashes. "To really make lips pop," Kaliardos applied a deep red lip mix and then lined them with a reddish-purple liner.
Edward Tricomi brought the glam factor up ten notches with a style he described as "40s romance, but very modern." Tricomi used three tools to perfect his "real simple" look: hair spray, bobby pins, and a curling iron. Tricomi prepped tresses with a medium hold hair spray before pulling hair back to one side. He then used a barrel curling iron to create "loose and romantic soft waves that cascaded down the back."
GET THE LOOK - MAKEUP: MAC Eye Shadows in Soba, Omega, and Coquette; MAC Pro Lash; MAC Pro Mixing Medium/Eyeliner; MAC Lip Pencil in Currant; MAC Pro LipMix in Crimson; and MAC Pro Sculpting Powder in Bone Beige
