Fashion Week Highlights
We know we shouldn't laugh, but it's hard to keep a straight face when models tumble on the runway. This model slipped and fell during the Hérvé Leger by Max Azria show -- fortunately she recovered and was unhurt.

Careful ladies, Hérvé's heels are dangerous! Not one, but two models couldn't keep on her feet during the designer's runway show. Thankfully this fallen fashionista also recovered without any injuries.

The weekend's other major trainwreck didn't involve stumbling models, but one high-class prostitute-turned-C-List celeb who worked her way into the front row at Yigel Azrouel. Kelly Cutrone (who you might remember from The Hills) was fired by the designer for letting Ashlee Dupre into his show.

Stylish celebs are synonymous with Fashion Week -- and this season is no exception. Julia Stiles, Hillary Duff and Paris Hilton have been turning heads -- see who else we spotted looking hot in the front row!

Beauty trends are born backstage at Fashion Week. While designer duds and front row celebs were duking it out for the spotlight, we've been behind-the-scenes -- making sure you know what products models are using to look gorgeous on the runway. Check out our exclusive coverage.

And let's not forget the clothes, of course. Jason Wu, who designed Michelle Obama's inauguration ball gown, showed a collection fit for the First Lady (or anyone who enjoys elegance and sophistication). See what else is hot this season -- check out Refinery 29 for more exclusive news runway reviews.

Oh, this makes me SO mad. How can people laugh at these models, trying to walk sexily down the catwalk in these increasingly RIDICULOUS shoes! The shoes of the past few years have been absolutely ghastly, just worse than ghastly. I have long been a lover and follower of fashion and high couture, but these male designers of women's shoes should be forced to wear these stupid things. I mean, really, these are not only staggeringly ugly, but they are downright unsafe. I seriously think there is some serious hatred of women going on. I am not saying some silly feminist thing, about the poor women. I am just so fed up with these ugly as sin shoes being foisted on women, and you cannot even walk safely in them. I really feel for the models, who work very hard in these shows. I have had a small amount of experience behind the scenes at fashion shows and these shoes are beyond the pale. Bravo to these brave young ladies who take a deep breath and venture out there to try to sell the designers clothes, wearing mukluks on their feet. Shame on you male designers! Shame! Stop creating such ugly and stupid shoes!
Ok, rant (building for a long time) over.

Believe me the average NORMAL woman does NOT wear those ridiculous things. And those "poor" models get paid big bucks to do what they do. There's other jobs out there also if they don't like it. Those tents were packed watching all those ridiculous designs even the dresses most of the time are too out there for the average woman to buy. As long as people pay to see them and wear them these idiot designers will keep putting them out there. I've notices thru the years that the winner on Klum's show is always the designer who is the most weird and out there. Those designers that have a line that maybe might appeal to a more "normal" American woman get eliminated. Those people who are picked on the BEST dressed lists are not wearing the freaky avant garde designs. They are wearing the classic beautiful clothes that last a lifetime. Thank you.

"haute couture" - high couture is not a synonym

Wow. You are a complete moron. I just love hearing how this is such "hard work." That is laughable. These demanding women get everything they want, while acting like complete snobs towards the "little people" who make them look as good as they do. Try tarring a roof when it's 101 degrees out, work on an oil rig for 18 consecutive hours, try working in a cancer ward for kids. Hard work...please. And what makes you think that ALL of these shoes are made by men? These fashions shows are absurd. The clothes, the shoes, the makeup, the hair, they are all way over the top. I don't know of any man or woman who actually buys this stuff. Obviously, they are not designed for that. If the hardest thing you have to do in your day is walk down the aisle with some assanine shoes on, then let me know where I can sign up! Give me a break! Women hatred going on? LOL You are right, you do have LITTLE experience with these shows if you feel sorry for these women.
ZEKE 2-18-2009 @ 8:21AM
THE REASON THEY DESIGN THEM THAT WAY IS, BECAUSE YOU WOMEN BUY THEM DUH!!!!!!!

No, absolutely not. The clothes in runway shows are almost, without exception, unwearable for the average woman. They are one of a kind, and even more unique than an Oscar dress. The height of the shoes is also just part of the production..the show. They are not functional. No woman that I know expects to wear these designer's regular (real) clothes..that is if they even have REAL clothes.
I believe they mostly show a use of color and lines and lengths that are going to be popular that season.
I'm 5' 10 1/2"..can you imagine me, at a normal place, wearing 5" or 6" heels? noooooo lol

IF THEY KNEW HOW TO WALK CORRECTLY THEY WOULD DO BETTER. I'VE NEVER SEEN A WOMENAT THE MAL WALK LIKE MODELS DO.

So with all the worlds problems Aol continues to highlight these ridiculous stories that have no value but to ridicule some famous person like the pictures of them without makeup (where personally I think they still look very good) Or caught off guard in ghastly poses. You can say "well you obviously read the articles".But I do so usually to complain about the medias continued obsession with stars personal lifes..Where are the true stories? There is so much going on in this world that the web could be keeping us informed on!! Hard news. You have to search for it.I for one am sick of it!!

Sometimes "other news stories" keep our minds off the bad stuff for awhile...You must be a pessimist..only wanting to here "The bad News".
caliope 2-18-2009 @ 12:39PM
I agree.
These soft stories are more depressing than the hard news, they do damage by feeding the lesser angels in people. They should post the picture (sans makeup) of the person writing the captions of the 'Celebrities without make-up" series. So we can see where the pot shots are coming from.
We are all human beings and we all mess up and look like a mess at times.
Sometimes there is a need to escape from real life but I think there are better places to go than the Isle of jealous mankind and Catty man do.

Why,do men design fashion for women and then put them on models that have the figures of adolescent boys ?
