Badgley Mischka Couture - This Smells Good

Mark Badgley and James Mischka
Badgley Mischka Couture is a new fragrance by the brilliant design team Mark Badgley (left) and James Mischka (right), and it is so hot, it's haute. We were lucky enough to meet the designers, who launched their legendary Badgley Mischka label in 1988 after meeting at Parsons, to smell and discuss the new perfume over glasses of champagne and little sandwiches in the shapes of hearts and stars.

Badgley Mischka Couture was created with the help of well known perfumer Caroline Sabas, who has previously worked with Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, and Origins.

Mischka (we figure he'd like to be mentioned first once in awhile) and Badgley dreamt of a fragrance that would "make a woman feel like she's wearing a couture gown." Having worn it yesterday in our office clothes, we can attest to their success!

About the fragrance: The top notes are sexy, with pear nectar, blackberry, and dark plum. The heart of the fragrance is supremely feminine, achieved with voluptuous gardenia and hints of jasmine and violet. All this floats over a creamy wood and musk base. Sounds good, no? It is.

For more quotes and information about Badgley Mischka Couture, read through our gallery below (and sorry, we totally should have taken a picture of those cute sandwiches). Or, if you're already convinced, get your own at Nordstrom. At $65 for 1.7 oz of the same stuff the stars are wearing with their finest dresses and jewelry, Mark Badgley is right: "Perfume is an affordable luxury."
