FALL 2009 FASHION WEEK - Backstage Beauty at Vivienne Westwood Red Label

Filed under: Fashion, Beauty, Makeup, Runway Report

SHOW:
VIVIENNE WESTWOOD RED LABEL

MAKEUP:
GORDON ESPINET FOR M.A.C

BEAUTY SNAPSHOT: High school cliques – are you a Siren, a Prep or a Goth?

THE SCOOP: Westwood's Red Label show hit on all her signature moves: tartan, corsets, décolletage, asymmetry and debauchery. The designs ran the gamut from loose knits to tight, tailored dresses and suits, so it's no wonder there were so many makeup looks to go with them. The venerable Gordon Espinet, makeup guru at M.A.C, explained that the looks were inspired by girls in different high school cliques. He certainly had his team working overtime to produce fierce eyes and lips-just not on the same girls.

GET THE LOOK - THE SIRENS:
The cat eye makes a comeback with M·A·C Fluidline gel liner in Blacktrack applied to the top lashline in a 1950's wing shape. Espinet finished the look with Pro Lash in Coal Black on the top and bottom lashlines.

GET THE LOOK - THE PREPS: For these lush lips, use M·A·C Lipstick in Girl About Town – applied as an opaque layer of fuchsia, followed by Cremesheen Glass in Ever So Rich.

GET THE LOOK - THE GOTHS:
Espinet created a dark, goth mouth with M·A·C Pro Lipstick in Full Chocolate.
