TIP: WEAR YOUR SUNSCREEN
"It's so much easier to prevent the aging process with daily sunscreen use than to try to repair it after the fact," says Dr. Doris Day. For an optimal anti-aging skincare routine to ensure gorgeous skin like Meryl Streep's, Dr. Day recommends looking for products that contain wrinkle-fighting retinoid, anti-oxidant vitamin c, anti-inflammatory niacinamide and skin-soothing caffeine.

TIP: YOU CAN REVERSE AGING
Simply using sun protection and avoiding excess ultra violet rays allows your skin to naturally repair itself. An anti-aging skincare routine will amplify results, for skin that looks taut and even like Vanessa Williams'. "Adding dermatologic procedures like chemical peels or laser treatments can then dramatically improve your skin further," says Dr. Day.

TIP: INVEST IN A PROFESSIONAL TREATMENT
Choosing the right doctor-administered treatment depends on your age, and if done correctly, can give spectacularly age-defying results (Exhibit A: Madonna's complexion is better than that of most 30 year olds). In your 20s, Botox prevents aging by freezing muscles from wrinkle-causing motions. For moderate aging, injectibles like Restylane and Juvederm beautifully though temporarily fill volume loss. For older pigmentation damage and wrinkling, the Fractional CO2 laser known as the "Total Fx" is the gold standard for skin resurfacing, with downtime as little as five to seven days, says Dr. Day.

TIP: TRUST A PROVEN ANTI-AGING CREAM
We asked Dr. Day for her favorite age fighters: "Olay's new Pro-X Hydra Firming Cream contains peptides, which increases collagen production for firmer skin, and niacinamide, which accelerates cell renewal to both treat and reverse past skin care damage. Clinique's Superdefense SPF 25 combines an anti-oxidant punch with full spectrum sun protection, and comes in special formulations for different skin types."

TIP: WEAR NATURAL MAKEUP SHADES
Stick with muted taupes, coffees, creams and blacks to enhance the shape of your eyes, and be wary of high shimmers that can accentuate lines. For a pop of color, choose either your cheeks or lips to highlight – but be careful not to choose a vampy dark lipcolor as it can age you, advises Sandy Linter, Lancôme's Beauty at Every Age Expert.

TIP: SWITCH TO CREAMIER MAKEUP
Take a cue from Jane Seymour and pay attention to texture, not just color in your products. Lip items should be moist and facial products like foundation and concealer should be creamy instead of thick so they don't migrate into lines. "You have to like the way it feels when it goes on," adds Linter.
Jason Merritt
TIP: KEEP LIPSTICK IN PLACE
For lipstick that lasts like Sophia Loren's, always line with a neutral pencil first, and then fill in your lips to provide a base for color to adhere to. Next, apply a moisturizing lip color that is rich, not runny, to the lip. If you want to add a smidge of gloss, apply only to the center bottom lip so as not to over-gloss, says Linter.

TIP: DON'T SKIMP OUT ON MAKEUP
The biggest cosmetics mistake older women make is to not wear any makeup at all, says Linter. Age draws some of the natural color out of skin, so even a light application can do wonders to refresh and re-engergize a face, a la Christy Brinkley's glowing complexion. "Products have improved drastically over the years – don't be afraid to go to your local beauty counter and experiment!" adds Linter.

TIP: BANGS MAKE YOU LOOK YOUNGER
"Bangs can make you look younger," says says Luke O'Connor, Suave Celebrity Stylist and co-owner of Lukaro salon in Beverly Hills. "Pick a style that accents your face to soften and bring out your best features." A soft fringe or side swept bangs, like Angela Basset's, are both very youthful.

Adonia LegTone reportedly reduced cellulite by as much as 47 percent in nine minutes and approximately 70 percent if used regularly for six weeks.
According to The Daily Mail: "The human skin has the largest reservoir of stem cells which start to weaken and become sluggish to regenerate after the age of 22. As regeneration slows, fat cells become engorged and toxins get trapped creating embarrassing, unsightly 'orange peel' effect on the surface of the skin."

Adonia LegTone has a formula which incorporates Greek plant stem cells which apparently "re-awaken and reactivate dormant or less active skin stem cells back to the levels they were in your 20s."
As we all know, even celebs and models have problems with cellulite. They can afford the best, and check out the Adonia LegTone celebrity fan list! It includes Cindy Margolis, Mario Lopez, Shar Jackson, Tila Tequila -- and those are just the celebrities they got to admit they were using it!
Think it'll work? A 60 day supply is $98 on the Adonia LegTone website, which offers free Fed Ex shipping.
Beauty Myths and Truths
by Melissa Goldberg
Can you get an infection from borrowing someone's makeup? Does drinking water prevent pimples? Beauty myths abound and StyleList wanted to separate skincare facts from fiction. We brought your toughest beauty questions to top industry experts and they gave us real information you can use to get (and stay) gorgeous today.
Will waxing make facial hair grow back thicker?
NO. Thankfully, this is not true. However, if you have never waxed before, the sun may have naturally lightened your facial hair to a lighter shade. After you wax, you may notice the hair appears a bit darker only because you were accustomed to the lighter shade, says Robin Evans, owner of Robin Evans Skincare in New York.
Is colored mascara acceptable for the office or daytime?
YES. It is acceptable; just make sure you use a very deep shade like navy blue or eggplant. "Bright mascara is only fine if you're 15," says TV's What Not To Wear makeup artist Carmindy. Keep your look classy by skipping the eyeshadow and liner if you choose to experiment with a more colorful mascara.
Will my eyelashes fall out if I don't remove my mascara?
YES. Scary, but true. Mascara can clog your eyelash follicles, which leads to breakage and shedding, says New York City dermatologist Dr. Doris Day. To quickly remove your mascara, hold a cotton ball saturated with oil-free remover over your lashes for a few seconds before gently wiping the mascara off. Never rub!
Will drinking more water really clear up breakouts?
NO. Even though water will improve skin's hydration, acne and breakouts are caused by genetic and environmental factors that result in increased oil production that gets trapped beneath your pores, says Dr. Christine Rodgers, a plastic surgeon in Denver, CO.
Does eating sugar cause wrinkles?
NO. Sugar doesn't directly cause wrinkles, but a poor diet, such as crash-dieting, or fat-free diets can lead to premature wrinkling because of the evaporation of fat cells in the face which can leave you with sagging jowls and dark under eye circles, according to Dr. Audrey Kunin, a Missouri dermatologist and founder of DERMAdoctor.
Do I need to wash my face both morning and night?
YES. Your skin accumulates grime, pollutants and oils that need to be cleansed, you guessed it, twice daily, even if you're not wearing any makeup. The morning wash is more useful for those with oily skin, which produces sebum overnight and causes you to wake up shiny, says Dr. Day.
I heard that mineral makeup is like rubbing rocks on your face. Is this true?
NO. Mineral makeup is a finely milled, gentle product that is brushed onto the skin surface for a flawless and non-harmful application. Do stay away from synthetics and look for all-natural mineral brands like Bare Escentuals for the best results, says Sephora Pro Makeup Artist Sara Biria.
Is the inner wrist the best place to test for the right shade of makeup?
NO. Your inner wrist is the lightest part of your body and can throw off the accuracy of selecting a foundation shade. Instead, test on your jaw line and take your chest color into consideration as well, says Carmindy.
Can I get an infection from borrowing friends' makeup?
YES. Makeup is the perfect home for bacteria to grow in, and you can even get an infection from your own collection, says Dr. Kunin. The only safe products to share are closed, protected items like cosmetics that are dispensed from pumps.
Skinny Makeup: Slenderize Your Face
Ever asked yourself the question: Does this lipstick make me look fat? Well, apparently you should be. Your favorite lipstick shade can actually add weight to your face.
"Dark, solid lipsticks can decrease the size of the lips, making the jaw line and lower half of your face look fuller if you already have a round face," says Jane Iredale Makeup Artist Kevin Mendelson. Instead, opt for light to medium glossy shades for fuller lips that better balance out and slenderize your face.
Here, we've got more tips from expert makeup artists on easy ways to shave pounds off your face.

Neatly tweezed and softly arched eyebrows "give definition to the face, making it look less full and round," says celeb makeup artist Nick Barose. Once you've shaped your brows, brush the hair up and outwards with clear mascara, and fill in sparse spots if necessary with a pencil one shade lighter than your hair color.

Conceal A Double Chin
Apply a shade three tones deeper than your skin color under your entire chin, stopping just below your jaw line and blending completely into your neck. The darker shade creates the illusion of depth and hides a double chin, says Jamie Kern Lima, co-founder of It Cosmetics. For more advanced contouring tricks, try My Sculpted Face Palette, which comes with detailed directions.

The No-Surgery Nose Job
A large or full nose can make anyone look heavier, especially in portrait photos. Cheat definition by blending a deeper contour color along the sides of your nose and highlighting down the center with a lighter shade, says New York Makeup Artist Laura Geller. Try Laura Geller Shade-N-Sculpt.

Lift With Mascara
You can fake a mini eyelift by first curling your lashes and then applying your favorite mascara to the ends of lashes with the tip of the wand pointed upwards, says Stila Celebrity Makeup Artist Sarah Lucero. This handy little trick creates the illusion of a lift and elongates the face.

Slenderize With Bronzer
Quick blending with a fluffy blush brush can sculpt a face with slimming definition in seconds. "Apply a neutral tan powder along your cheek bones, up to the temples and into the hairline, and along the jaw line to create dimension," advises Alphonse Weibelt, VP of Brand Development at BeingTRUE. Try BeingTRUE Protective Mineral Foundation.

Make Your Lips Pop
A savvy way to draw attention away from a full neck or cheeks is to accentuate your lips. Try this celeb-loved trick. Lightly line your lips, add a pretty medium shade, and then apply light shimmer powder to your Cupid's Bow (the "v" part of your upper lip) and a dab to the center of your lips, says Achelle Dunaway of e.l.f. Cosmetics.
Jon Kopaloff, FilmMagic
Avoid Smoky Eyes
Deep, shadowy layers of color set eyes closer together, which exacerbates the look of a full face, says Jane Iredale Makeup Artist Kevin Mendelson. Instead, opt for a "cleaner" look with an emphasis on mascara and subtle eyeliner for definition in order to better balance your face.

Highlight Your Center Face
To take the contouring tips to another level, contrast the deeper shades you've outlined your face in with a highlighted center face for a fully chiseled look. Sweep a light shimmer powder over your upper cheek bones, brow bones and the inner corners of your eyes, suggests Cameron Vaught, Lead Makeup Artist of theBalm. Try TheBalm Overshadow in No Money No Honey.

Apply Blush The Right Way
"Women usually apply blush in the wrong place. Think of blush as a bustier – it should push the girls – or your cheekbones – up!" says Michael Marcus of Michael Marcus Cosmetics. For a lifting contour, line your brush up with your pupil, then position it right on the apple of your cheek and apply color going straight back to the center of your ear.

Frank you stick to aftershave and jock straps and let us decide what works best for us women. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it makes a big difference what you put in your skin, and science will back that up! Of course, their will always be false claims as with any other product or service. But I could not possibly use some of the lotions that are out there, or none at all, and maintain the quality of skin that I have to for my photos unless I use certain creams. I'm over 40 and I see women all the time not using the right products they look very old. It doesn't have to be expensive, it just has to be effective.
Robyn 3-05-2009 @ 12:21PM
Take care of yourself while you are young you would not need this sort of thing. Let nature take its course. What you did or did not do when you were young will show up in the future. I am a 53 year old young woman who looks 35 or younger. I have no wrinkles, no stretch marks just strees around the mid section. I have three children ages 30, 22, and 16. I drink a lot milk when I was young, I love strawberries which help with skin. I keep a positive attitude and never hold in anger. I will cry, scream, holler what ever it takes to rid the toxins of stress which can cause bad skin and another thing if you smoke, STOP!

Waste of your hard earned money ladies! Squats, lunges, cardio and clean eating are the ONLY answer! It's a shame that everyone wants a magic pill or cream to look good. It takes hard work and diet control.

Lindsay 3-05-2009 @ 4:14PM
Actually studies have been done that show cellulite is almost completely hereditary. Even if you work out 5 + days a week, do squats and lunges all day long and eat extremely healthy you will still have if it is in your genes, trust me, unfortunately I know. It won't be as pronounced, but for me, no amount of working out gets rid of it all. So I don't blame women for trying.
Mina 3-05-2009 @ 11:41AM
You obviously don't know what you are talking about. All of those things you spoke of won't take away cellulite. If you have cellulite, ladies, all you need is a bottle of Tonalin CLA (it's OTC). Give it a month and you will see a change. It's not expensive, either. I happen to be 35 (with an 11 year old son) and look 21 (people think my son is my younger brother). No Botox, no cosmetic surgery, just good genes and preventive maintenance. By the way, CLA is something in a vast majority of the foods we eat, but due to all of the manipulation done to the food, we don't get as much as we used to naturally.
Tina 3-05-2009 @ 11:50AM
Not always true, DBerger. Cellulite is genetic oftentimes, and no matter how fit and healthy one is, cellulite can still be a problem.
Jason 3-05-2009 @ 12:36PM
Just wanted to back you up a bit since i see you have the lazy couch hags jumping on you making excuses because I am confident that they are out of shape. Unless you two pieces of work thing fat is genetic then cellulite can not be genetic. Without fat you have no cellulite. Go ahead and look it up. Tone your muscles and burn fat and you get ride of cellulite. I hate stupid lazy people that try to tell people how something works based on a defense of there own issues. Move your backsides or you will spend the rest of your lives trying junk creams that do little to nothing and of course you have to keep using them and spending the money on them or your out of shape legs jump right back into uglyville.
Me 3-05-2009 @ 2:01PM
You are right about the physical activity needs. Most of the people who would deny it are LYING TO THEMSELVES. If you keep up on staying in shape -- it really isn't hard to keep a figure void of cellulite. If this is a supposed 'gene' thing, well I tell you I have sisters and guess who has cellulite? Clue: not the ones who stays in shape (including yours truly). Yes, I have friends who always have something to say about my physique -- usual 'comments', but the 'way' in which they are stated some might consider 'something else'. I hate it when women are MAD at other women for being in shape -- anyone can be in shape. I'm going to say it and listen loud -- if you want a tone, althetic body, YOU have to put in the work in. It doesn't come out of box, jar, or even a surgery table (looks can be deceiving). I love being fit and having stamina to keep up with my four kids, oldest who is in his teens. It's not that I've had to work excessive hard to have toned abs, and etc...it's just that I never 'let myself go' like so many women tend to do. Women need to realize they are worth the time and effort given to themselves. I have 4 kids - and many people mistake me for a high school teen. I don't spend money on these types of things -- but I have to admit I was curious as to the claims of this 'new product' -- so many people are wanting to believe there are shortcuts to everything..........maybe to somethings, but def not everything.
Vickie 3-05-2009 @ 2:49PM
I do all of the above, 5 times a week, and have a very healthy diet; yet I still have some cellulite. You can not stop effects of age and genes dear. Why cant people try creams and serums in addition to doing those things? Let's not be judgemental just because you dont have cellulite and know what it's like to deal with it.
Vickie 3-05-2009 @ 2:49PM
Jason sweetie, my mom is a size 4, very thin and works out 5 times a week at the Y; she has some cellulite. Look it up. It's toxins. You do NOT have to be fat to have cellulite. My 40 year old friend is very thin, no fat at all, and has cellulite. Do your homework. Duh.
jacqueline 3-06-2009 @ 11:57AM
"Shame on women" for what, looking for ways to simplify their lives? I can't believe you even said that.
I'm a fitness model, professional athlete and staying away from sugar, white flour is great, been doing it 20 yrs. even animal products, I'm almost vegan and in my 40's and a size 0-2. I've had cellulite, on my thin frame, since I can remember. I'm a professional dancer and model full time.
I have to be particular about the products I use, which is to say in comparison to a non firming cream I will continue to pick up the firming/anti cellulite option and always look out for new products that can improve my skin quality WITHOUT shame because people like you and Frank (like he knows LOL ROTF) think you know everything.
Had this come from someone with any real experience in the field, then you might have my respect.

Tina, everyone first notices the physical presence of someone before getting to know them. You are lying to yourself if you say that it is not the truth. It is not just the "evil men" that do this, women go based on physical attraction first as well. People that do not expect as much physically from there mate usually do not take care of themselves and have accepted that they need to lower there standards. I like to work out and eat right to stay in shape cause I care about my health and my body not just for the looks that go with it. So I am interested in women that take care of there bodies as well. I can not understand people that survive on fast food and sit around all day and then expect some cream to make up for it all. It is just a lazy way to deal with being out of shape or not being able to cope with getting older. If people did not carry around so much extra body weight from eating because they are gluttons, instead of eating because they are hungry, then that would save on food and junk cream and you could spend that money on something else. Plus if you can dedicate (and I know you can) 1 hour for 3 days a week to exercise then your doing pretty good.

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3), applied topically, is beneficial for reducing Acne, skin hyper-pigmentation (acne scars), increasing skin moisture and reducing fine wrinkles. Niacinamide is generally recognized as safe during pregnancy (always consult a doctor).
Scientists at NY University College of Medicine have shown that Niacinamide is superior to antibiotics such as Clindamycin in controlling acne.

Jason, that's a rather unresearched comment. I don't really condone these creams because they really don't help that much. There's no such thing as a miracle. And honestly, I agree with you to an extent, however, everyone is not like that who's overweight or obese. I'm quite overweight, I have cellulite (I don't waste money on creams, I save up for treadmills), I run at least ten miles a day, and occationally lift. I'm also a very strict vegetarian - vegan at times - and eat extremely clean. Some people have medical reasons for being overweight. I know this is not true for everyone who is overweight, but some people eat healthy and exercise, yet the pounds just don't want to come off. It's very frustrating because of people like you who have false conceptions of what "fat people" do. It's not like that in all cases. And if people really want to get serious about loosing weight, I know it takes more than just one hour a day for three days a week - that would be enough for health alone, but not weight loss unless you dramatically restrict diet unhealthily or have a fast metabolism. Just because you live an active lifestyle, doesn't mean that someone who's overweight doesn't either. All in all, it comes down to what *you're* attracted to, doesn't it? If she looks like she "takes care of herself" - it's still a matter of appearence.
