Blazers and jackets have been on fire for a few years now. But that doesn't mean designers don't make little changes on them from season to season to keep the look fresh. And spring's hottest new silhouette is no different.

The cutaway jacket actually derives from the 19th century, a period where many designers are currently drawing inspiration from. Its original purpose was to make a more comfortable riding jacket for men. Like the name implies, the bottom half of the front is cutaway to make movement of the hips freer. But we're almost positive you won't be wearing your more feminine version of the cutaway for galloping (unless it's down a catwalk, of course).
