Just in time for March Madness, Vineyard Vines is offering up a selection of classy superfan ties for those who want to give their team a shout out in a formal and conservative way (which is really no way to give your team a shout-out, if you think about it). Sure, every single Division I school has its logo plastered across every item from do-rags to whitey tighties, but few if any of these items could be called classy. Many of these ties -- with the exception of schools with a hopelessly ugly mascot -- actually make the grade.

Perhaps the strongest feature of these ties is that they allow alumni from schools with an unfortunately hard to match color scheme -- for example LSU purple, Florida orange, or Texas burnt orange -- to pull off the fan thing with at least a hint of sophistication.

Granted, some university mascots and motifs are so gaudy, they even look stupid on a necktie. Condolences are in order to the Miami Hurricanes, Minnesota Gophers, and Wisconsin Badgers -- your ties are pretty hideous.
