Low SPF Doesn't Protect Skin - StyleLIES

Filed under: Fashion, How to Wear

korresWe recently got to test out Korres' Wild Rose Cream SPF 6. While we absolutely loved the product, we couldn't wrap our heads around how SPF 6 could protect our skin. It got us thinking, "What's with all these products with low SPF and do they even protect?" So we went straight to the source and consulted with Korres' Director of Education.

She told us that, with any product, "when you mix an SPF into a formula you typically dilute both the SPF and the actives within the formula. We [at Korres] try to provide as much SPF as possible while still maintaining the integrity of the product and providing maximum results.

"SPF also refers to how long the SPF protects. So if someone typically burns after 10 minutes, an SPF of 6 will protect for 60 minutes. Also, even when applying a high SPF (during high sun exposure) you are meant to reapply every 2 hours. For clients desiring a higher SPF, we recommend our Watermelon tinted moisturizer SPF 30 sunscreen."

Well, that explains it!
