For Clive Owen, Armani is a Spy's Best Friend

Clive Owen opens next week in the romantic thriller "Duplicity," in which he and Julia Roberts play international spies who decide they can make more money exploiting a corporate cold war between two pharmaceutical giants. With those two on the screen, and a suitably James Bond-ian backdrop of gorgeous foreign locations, audiences may not be paying much attention to the clothes.
In fact, Owen's sleek wardrobe is the result of a collaboration between two of the industry's greatest talents. Giorgio Armani's name speaks for itself, but would you recognize Albert Wolsky as a costume designer with 13 Academy Award nominations (and two wins) to his credit?
Armani has been collaborating with Hollywood for years, making an early splash with "American Gigolo" and continuing with films such as "The Untouchables," "Shaft," and last year "The Dark Knight."
Armani said Owen himself suggested the designer get involved with the film, when both were at the men's shows in Milan. "I said yes before I even know I would have the honor of collaborating with the legendary costume designer Albert Wolsky," Armani said in a statement. "Albert has that rarefied gift for being able to make clothing a leading character in a film."
Wolsky created the wardrobe based on Armani's made-to-measure two-button fine wool notch lapel suits, plus Chelsea boots, flat-front pants and cashmere polos (naturally.)
"Take these luxurious fabric choices and team them with trim-to-the-body tailoring on the suits and what you end up with is the best-dressed man in the room," said Wolsky. "He's wearing Armani of course."
