It's Official, Theyskens is Out at Nina Ricci
Filed under: News
A couple of months ago, its was rumored that Olivier Theyskens was on his way out at Nina Ricci. Naturally, we dismissed the claim -- the news was coming from across the pond, which meant it should be taken with a grain of salt. Plus, not too long before the rumor began, Theyskens had just announced plans to do an extensive accessories line for the label.
Nonetheless, we were wrong because not only has the Belgium designer been fired after presenting a beautiful goth-inspired fall '09 collection, but his replacement has already been secured by Ricci management: Peter Copping, the current top design deputy to Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton.
In a very politically correct joint statement, it was revealed that Theyskens in fact had made his official exit at Ricci on Tuesday, March 10th, ahead of the expiration of his contract in October. No word on what's next for the super talented Theyskens, but there have been a few whispers about him resurrecting his namesake label.
